Today I have four less teefs
This morning I got all four of my wisdom teeth out. I don't remember the operation because I was knocked out, but I vividly remember the feeling I had just before I lost consciousness. It was a bit scary. The first thing the dentist gave me was laughing gas and then he poked me in the arm with sedative. The best I can describe the feeling that came from all these meds is as a long "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" and then I tried to make the "eeeeeeeeeeeeeee" higher pitched like I was screaming. I attempted loosening my body and tightening my body. It must have really been working because the dentist told me, "Relax."
That's the last thing I remember until a nurse asked me to stand up and walk to the recovery room. That was hard. The next step was taking Percocet. Turns out, my body doesn't like Percocet very much, so that came right back out of me and told the nurses that I needed yet another shot, this time for nausea. Man did that shot hurt. So a girl who hates shots now has three bandages on her left arm.
All things considered, I'm doing quite well. I have no pain and all I'm on right now is one Aleve. Of course, it's been about ten hours and the left side of my mouth is still numb from the novacaine. My biggest complaints now are the taste in my mouth and the fatigue. Plus the ordeal took me away from my precious computer until 8:30 at night! That's amazing. Anyway, I'm pretty lucky. Let's hope my condition stays this way.
(Update: At 9 pm, Dr. Giuliani, my dentist-type person, just called to check on me. He is GREAT. If you ever need to get teeth out and you live in the Washington, D.C. area you should go to him. He's priced fairly, incredibly nice, and does a great job.)
