How lucky am I?
It's rare that all four of the albums on my "Currently listening to" sidebar are so good that they can all be listened to in their entirety. Today I realized that I love all of the following albums from start to finish. Here they are in no particular order:
A Perfect Circle- Thirteenth Step
The second album from Tool's Maynard and the rest of A Perfect Circle, Thirteenth Step is just as good as the first Perfect Circle album, Mer de Noms. This is for people who like melodic, angry, sometimes soft and often loud, interesting music.
Chevelle- This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)
Even though Chevelle is a little more mainstream and a lot more religious than A Perfect Circle and the Deftones, they sound pretty similar. This Type of Thinking is also Chevelle's second album and I think it is much more consistent than their first major label release. I listen to the album while doing my cardio workout; it prevents me from getting bored on the elliptical machine, which I think is impressive.
Leftfield- Rhythm and Stealth
There are very few electronic albums that I can listen to as anything other than background music. Rhythm and Stealth has grown on me since I first heard my roommate's copy of the album in college. Back then I absolutely loved the song "Swords", but now the entire album is my favorite driving music. Perfect for listening to in the car before heading out for the night.
Meshell Ndegéocello- Bitter
I don't listen to a lot of R&B, but this album has been in my computer at work for many days now. Bitter is surprisingly not consistently bitter, but it is always heavily charged with emotion. The album has definitely been helping me get through some stressful times at work.
So those are my reviews. I happen to think that the above writing is crappy and trite. Perhaps when I have more time I'll do some editing. Despite my current inability to express myself, you should still check out the above albums because they are damn good. I promise.
