Blog Action Day: Poverty
Howdy folks,
Today is a poverty Blog Action Day so I wanted to remind you of some of my favorite websites for helping out. Both of the following sites are great because they allow you to choose a specific classroom or business that you want to help. Don't have time to pick a project? That's not a problem either.
DonorsChoose.org
Donate any amount of money ($5 or $500) to the school project of your choice. Teachers from all over the U.S. submit proposals requesting funding. There are plenty of ways to choose. Sort by location, grade level, school subject, and more. If you are one of the primary donors for a project, you get photos and letters from the class that you helped. This has been my favorite charity for years.
kiva.org
For those of you who prefer to invest, this site's for you. Kiva makes microfinance easy and fun. Find a business you want to support anywhere in the world and send money (the money thing works just like DonorsChoose). That money will eventually come back to you and you can choose to reinvest it wherever you like.
Happy Blog Action Day!
:)
