Day 34: STILL in Auckland!!!
I had every intention of leaving Auckland to head down to Waitomo Caves and Rotorua today. I rented a car and everything. Then I woke up and found out that my stomach was back to its previous shenanigans. Dammit! I took the morning to sleep in. The sun was finally out but my body was telling me to rest. Around 1 pm, I emerged from my room and met a lovely Irish girl named Claire who had just arrived from Australia. I invited her to come along with me to see the Sky Tower.
Once we were on our way, I pulled a bit of bait and switch. Why don't we try to go to Waiheke Island instead? Claire thought this was more of a day trip but I insisted that we take advantage of the good weather and the ride was just 30 minutes. Plus, I was going to leave the next day no matter what and I had heard Waiheke was great. We caught the 4 pm ferry to Waiheke and then got right back on at 5:35 pm. Both ferry rides were awesome and I can imagine Waiheke being quite a cool island in the summer.
My stomach behaved for the entire way and then broke down again as we were returning. I was thankful for some normalcy and hoped that tomorrow would be a better day. Stomach, I don't care how you are doing tomorrow because we are LEAVING Auckland!
